Welcome to Ardgowan School, a welcoming country school with mountain views. We have extensive grounds with a large field, playground area, covered basketball courts and lots of space for the children to enjoy. We are lucky enough to have our library in the historic original school building. We are proud of our heritage and how the school has continued to develop and prosper over the years.
Your child may wish to take part in some of our many sports activities including soccer, hockey, touch, netball, mini ball and basketball. We also have a popular choir and Kapa Haka. We provide an opportunity to develop academic, sporting, cultural and social skills and take part in activities for gifted and talented students. We offer a variety of opportunities for our senior students to develop their social and leadership skills. We also offer a popular and successful programme for our pre school children, involving visits before they start. This helps to make that first big day a happy and memorable one. We have high standards of behaviour, attitudes, values, involvement and academic achievement.
Our students are given every opportunity to be the best that they can be. Our school has a welcoming atmosphere and a strong community feel. We believe that good, open communication with our community is an important aspect of our partnership and we endeavour to inform and listen to the needs and concerns of our families. Our Board of Trustees is dedicated to improving standards. We offer all the benefits of a country school (multi level classes, small class sizes meaning more teacher time per student, differentiated learning to cater for specific needs, friendly supportive community, space…) whilst still having the convenience of being only 5 minutes from the centre of town.

If you are wanting to have an interview with your child's teacher please ensure you book via our Skool Loop app. Or if you are having any trouble booking please contact me in the office and I can sort a time and date for you.

Good afternoon Ardgowan families,
Our school is now working with SchoolDocs to provide a website for maintaining, updating, and reviewing our school policies. SchoolDocs updates policies in response to changes in legislation and Ministry guidelines, reviews/requests from schools, and regular research from the SchoolDocs team. Whanau and the community can also feed into any changes of policies that are up for renewal. The process to do this has been included in an attached document.
Our school board has the opportunity to view changes/additions and comment on them before they are implemented. We will advise you when policies are up for review and how you can take part in the review.
