Welcome to Ardgowan School, a welcoming country school with mountain views. We have extensive grounds with a large field, playground area, covered basketball courts and lots of space for the children to enjoy. We are lucky enough to have our library in the historic original school building. We are proud of our heritage and how the school has continued to develop and prosper over the years.
Your child may wish to take part in some of our many sports activities including soccer, hockey, touch, netball, mini ball and basketball. We also have a popular choir and Kapa Haka. We provide an opportunity to develop academic, sporting, cultural and social skills and take part in activities for gifted and talented students. We offer a variety of opportunities for our senior students to develop their social and leadership skills. We also offer a popular and successful programme for our pre school children, involving visits before they start. This helps to make that first big day a happy and memorable one. We have high standards of behaviour, attitudes, values, involvement and academic achievement.
Our students are given every opportunity to be the best that they can be. Our school has a welcoming atmosphere and a strong community feel. We believe that good, open communication with our community is an important aspect of our partnership and we endeavour to inform and listen to the needs and concerns of our families. Our Board of Trustees is dedicated to improving standards. We offer all the benefits of a country school (multi level classes, small class sizes meaning more teacher time per student, differentiated learning to cater for specific needs, friendly supportive community, space…) whilst still having the convenience of being only 5 minutes from the centre of town.

A gentle reminder from our staff.
School officially opens at 8:30am each day. Our teachers use the time before that each morning for planning and organising their classrooms. It is greatly appreciated if children can please be dropped off NO EARLIER THAN 8:30am unless a prior arrangement has been made with your child’s teacher.
Children arriving earlier than 8:30 are not supervised as not all staff are present at this time.

Good morning Ardgowan futsal parents,
Futsal is starting very soon for Term 3 and we wanted to clear up some confusion over where it is now being played.
It is at the new stadium, not the Rec centre.
In order to find your way around to the correct court it may help to be a couple of minutes early to your child's game if you are unfamiliar with the new venue.

Our Home and School urgently need ALL raffle tickets and stubs returned to the school office ASAP.
Even if you haven't sold the ticket could you please return it so if the number is drawn they know it hasn't sold and can re-draw the number.

Kia ora whānau ,
Due to the very cold temperatures we have forecast for today and how cold it is sitting for extended periods of time outside, we have made the decision to cancel our assembly today.
We know that many of you were looking forward to coming along and seeing students share and we apologise for that.
Room 1 will have the opportunity to perform their play at our Home and School Matariki breakfast next Friday morning.
